The Tree of Life

On the Other Side of Technology

Technology has transformed nearly every aspect of modern life.

We carry powerful computers in our pockets. We can access vast libraries of information within seconds. Scientific discoveries and technological innovations have extended lifespans, connected people across continents, and changed how we understand the world around us.

Yet despite all of this knowledge, many people feel more disconnected than ever.

Disconnected from Nature

Disconnected from One Another

And perhaps most importantly, disconnected from themselves.

The Age of Information

Modern society places enormous value on information. We are taught that knowledge is power and that every challenge can be solved through more data, more research, and more technology.

While knowledge is undeniably valuable, an exclusive focus on material explanations can leave little room for intuition, inspiration, and inner knowing.

In the constant pursuit of external answers, we may overlook an important source of wisdom that exists within us.

The Forgotten Intelligence

Throughout history, many cultures viewed healing as more than a mechanical process. The body was understood to possess its own intelligence—a natural capacity to restore balance, adapt, and heal.

Today, many people place their trust almost entirely in external authorities, systems, and technologies. While these tools serve important purposes, they may represent only one aspect of a much larger picture.

What if healing is not simply something that happens to us?
What if it is also guided by an innate awareness that operates beyond conscious thought?

Beyond Knowledge Alone

Consider the growing body of research examining the effects of prayer, meditation, gratitude, optimism, meaningful social connection, and time spent in nature.

These experiences often produce measurable changes in health and wellbeing. Yet they are difficult to explain through a purely material lens.

Many people describe these experiences as helping them reconnect with a deeper sense of purpose, peace, and inner guidance.

They remind us that wisdom and healing may involve more than information alone.

Making Space for Intuition

Modern technology constantly competes for our attention.

Notifications, screens, media, and endless streams of content leave little room for silence. Yet it is often in moments of quiet reflection that insight emerges.

A walk in nature.

A moment of prayer.

Meditation.

Stillness.

Time away from the constant demands of technology may allow us to reconnect with aspects of ourselves that are often drowned out by noise.

Perhaps intuition is not something we gain.

Perhaps it is something we remember.

The Other Side of the Tree of Knowledge

The story of the Tree of Knowledge has long served as a powerful metaphor.

Knowledge itself is not the problem. The challenge arises when knowledge becomes disconnected from wisdom.

When information replaces awareness.

When analysis replaces experience.

When technology replaces our relationship with nature and with ourselves.

One might ask:

Is there a kind of Garden waiting for us on the other side of the Tree of Knowledge and its modern descendant—materialist technology?

Not a rejection of knowledge, but a restoration of balance.

A More Conscious Future

At CHI, we believe that consciousness plays an essential role in human wellbeing.

The educational resources shared through CHI and the consciousness-directed technologies we create are intended to support a more awareness-centered approach to life. They encourage exploration, presence, and a deeper connection to the innate intelligence that exists within each of us.

As technology continues to advance, perhaps our greatest opportunity is not simply to accumulate more knowledge, but to cultivate greater wisdom.

The answers we seek may not always be found in the next breakthrough, the next study, or the next device.

Sometimes they are waiting quietly within us, ready to be heard when we create the space to listen.

A systems engineer by training, he moved early in his career from efficient use of fossil fuel energy to efficient use of human energy. Human consciousness is severely crippled in most all of us compared to the full potentials of consciousness so Richard has made studying and optimizing human consciousness into a 30 year career choice.
